Every drop of the water on Earth is all the water that has been on the planet. Freshwater is genuinely millions of years old. It is where the same water flows on a particular continuous loop. It includes the falling of snow and rain from the clouds to the Earth’s surface. It is the water running in rivers, as well as the pooling in ponds. It is also the water flowing in faucets and the one used for irrigating lands. It is the same water that travels through plants and eventually evaporates into the air and condenses into clouds again.

The reason why there is life on the planet is because of the basics of an entire water life cycle. It is so simple yet elaborate that a lot of professionals study its every part and process through hydrology. It is entirely fascinating as it summarizes its cycle into the fundamentals of “flows and stores.” Meaning, the water cycle is a series of water flows that come from storages where it often moves in flux.

The Process Of Water Movement


Evaporation – When the sun heats the oceans and rivers, water becomes water vapor where it can be a fog or mist. It is where water rises in the atmosphere through the form of gas. The particles of water change their physical features and turn them into bits and tiny pieces of molecules.  This particular process is called evaporation, and it is the first step of the water cycle.


Condensation – Along with evaporation, the water rises in the atmosphere to form into tiny water droplets. These droplets, along with dust particles and other gases, come together to establish a series of clouds. It stays there with its molecules that will soon become rain. A typical example of condensation is when there is heated water. When opening the lid up to some time, there will be some water droplets on the cover. That is precisely what condensation is.

Precipitation – When the clouds become too heavy, and it cannot hold the water inside it anymore, that is where it burst open to release the rain, snow, or hail.  It is the process of water falling unto the surface of the Earth. It can be in many forms, such as rain on its liquid form. It can also be snow, ice, hail, and sleet in a denser or frozen form. The process of precipitation infiltrates the soil surface and percolates into the ground.

Collection – The water gets collected again by the oceans, rivers, and lakes. It even seeps through soils and becomes groundwater. It is where it gets stored back to form another process of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.

As you can notice, there is no end to this. Water does this all the time, and that what makes it so amazing. It can process its own life, and it sustains the flow of the Earth’s function. The whole cycle is easy to understand, and that is what makes it even more perfect.
